Capcom is celebrating Megaman’s anniversary with a very controverted project, Street Fighter X Megaman. No it is not a fighting game but a retro platformer using Megaman’s old school graphics. What is specifically weird about this project is that Capcom has not released a new game for this franchise since 3 years now and for the 25th anniversary, they are tying him up with Street Fighter. The basic idea is very interesting, but fans around the world has been asking for a new Megaman game and still haven’t received one, Capcom has even cancelled two major projects recently, Megaman Legends 3 and Megaman Universe. And now, they are announcing a new game, set to release for free on PC. Where is the catch? This game is not produced by Capcom, but by a fan of the serie that had the permission of Capcom to publish the game. So yeah.. the idea is great, but it is still not what the fan asked for this franchise. Let’s hope Capcom will announce something real for its 25th anniversary.
Street Fighter X Megaman is set to release as a PC-only download on December 17. This game is absolutely free and should marks a “kick off of festivities taking place in 2013, when Megaman takes center stage as “The Blue Bomber” reflects on his own 25 years of gaming greatness.” Let us know what you think of this release in the comment below!
